Patricia, Problems among late teens, and young adults, has been going on for millenia. Odd that you did not mention the underaged daughter of your hero.

Dear patricia, The daughter's of the President are not and should not be in the publics eye. All the hoopla you are raising is absurd. If the great supposed crime is a 19 year old being in possession of a drink, I say that's it's between the 19 year old and her parents and none of my or your business. I see nothing else to discuss about it.

All folks make mistakes and live with the consequences.
As a public issue our government has decided to provide a set of individuals with protection as a consequence of the world we live in.
Their simple directive is to prevent someone from attempting to harm the protected individual.

If you don't like the current set of protected individuals you are free to lobby for what you think is correct. But the simple directive is reasonable. But you are again free to lobby for what you want. I am not aware of any reason to change anything as to who and what.

As Scumbria says, the press are whores. I must concur in this case. As long as the children are not used in a political way or campaign I pay little attention to them, dem or repub. More important to pay attention to our own, as you do. I'm not a parent but I do know this society prolongs adolescence mostly through a denial of personal responsibility and a parent cannot control the entire environment of their child.

If the Bush's were concerned about their daughter's privacy they shouldn't have run for the Presidency.

I'm not sure what you mean. Only the childless can run for President or they should have no concern.??????
