didn't we go into this quite extensively not too long ago? i'm just trying to refresh my memory. <g> as i recall, you reached a point where you did not feel comfortable trying some of the recommended steps? am i remembering this right?

i may have pointed you in this direction at that time (part of the reason i am asking, btw), but this looks to be a pretty darn good WINDOWS SHUTDOWN TROUBLESHOOTER

given that you've mentioned drivers, pay particular attention to the Twelfth Step: RULE OUT WINDOWS DEVICE DRIVER PROBLEMS.
