Dan3:

Re: That was too much for you to figure out, eh?

You've been posting hear long enough to realize that writing ambiguous statements will get you nailed every time. If you were referring to a change in assets-liabilities, then say so. Otherwise expect to get spanked every time (it's happened to me, too).

Re:Ahhh the mysteries of arithmetic. For Q1, INTC Assets - Liabilities were $18.739 - $7.387 while for the previous quarter they were $21.150 - $8.650. The difference is a net change of -$1,148 Million. During the same period, running the same calculation, AMD's change was +285 Million.

Don't be a smarta$$. Your original post said nothing about the change in current assets/liabilities quarter over quarter.

Dan3, RE: Ahhh the mysteries of arithmetic.

It isn't arithmetic. It is English.

You said, "In Q1 of this year, INTC Current Assets - Current Liabilities was -$1,148 Million."

That statement is clearly in error. When you insult the intelligence of a reader that caught your error instead of acknowledge your mistake, it is quite clear that either a) you intentionally posted incorrect information to deceive people on this board or b) you have a very poor grasp of the English language.

Nice posts. But I don't expect the longs here to debate you on substance.

<Intel has grown incredibly fat and lazy over the past 10 years>

It is a culture were glorious weekly status reports rein supreme, were counting days to the next sabbatical is an art form and were Power Point is a universal circuit design and verification tool.

Dan, “During the same period, running the same calculation, AMD's change was +285 Million.” You did not take into consideration that Long Term Debt increased by $225 million. So you are down to only 60 million. Of course the sum of it is that is Intel finances expansion out of profits. AMD from debt.

In addition, since AMD cut prices in August 2000 Gross Margins have declined from about 47% to slightly less that 40%. And now AMD is cutting prices further by an average of 40%. Jerry referred to the August cuts as venom, this round of cuts must be kamikaze.
