Alcatel demonstrates MPLS capabilities on world's first carrier-class edge services router Alcatel participates at George Mason University's (GMU) Advanced Internet Lab(AIL) Paris, May 2, 2001 - Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced it successfully demonstrated interoperability of its Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) implementation on the Alcatel 7420 ESR with an array of multi-vendor core and edge routers at George Mason University's Advanced Internet Lab last week. The tests validate the interoperability of Alcatel's 7420 ESR MPLS offering, which enables carriers to use MPLS traffic engineering and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to roll out revenue generating, differentiated IP services.
