"Who are you, and what have you done with MikeM(From Florida)?"

Jim- Funny!<g> Very sorry for my skeptical disposition. I suppose I'm tired of the wall street pumping and dumping tactics and also getting a little tired of CEOs who bend the truth. It's pretty rare for a CEO to tell it like it is. But what probably really bothers me is that I got CAUGHT on the wrong side of the BS.<g>

I'm really of the belief that if an incumbent(either cable or twisted pair) isn't rolling it out, it has a slim chance of success. You tell me an incumbent is "planning" to roll it out, it gets my attention. If not, then the only thing that gets my interest are deployed stats.

The 80% coverage of the UK doesn't mean anything to me. You can say Irridium and Globalstar have 100% coverage of the planet Earth and look where it's gotten them.

If you have a network that is 100 years old and another that is 50 years old, and TODAY they are raking in $600 BILLION in revenues, it's hard to knock them off their mountain tops. -MikeM(From Missouri)

incumbent- I use the term VERY loosely here. Just about any SP over 20 years old, I would consider an incumbent.

"but you, and the rest of the LMers say "Not good enough"."

Jim- I just took notice of the above. Overall, I would say it's only me on the LM that is skeptical about SPs and their equipment providers. And I'm really most skeptical of any companies that attempt to take on the incumbents or use the FCC as their reason for exsistance. elamatador of course is skeptical on any DSL rollouts. But other than that, I think there are a lot of optimists on this thread that believe a CLEC can be successful with BBFW, fiberless optics, satellite, etc...

And I'm starting to be more optimistic that the capex isn't really dried up as much as wall street paints it. Capex is only going through a shift as the CLECs have been taken out of the picture. -MikeM(From Florida)
