I'm still out the dollar, and they've got it.

This is not about your dollar. If it were about your dollar, a lamb chop and a furnace filter would be the same thing since your dollar can go to either.

Employers pay employees based on what it costs to attract and retain the kind of employees they want. They concern themselves with what their competitors offer in salaries and bonuses and the morale of their employees. It's strictly a business transaction.

When government transfers money to citizens, such as food stamps or reduced cost loans, it it redistributing wealth based on some social or political criteria.

My health insurance is like that of GE or IBM employees, not like Medicaid or Medicare. My pension is like anyone else's pension or 401K, not like Social Security. My salary is just like the salary of some guy who works on an assembly line or writes code for Microsoft, not like welfare.

The considerations for how your dollar gets spent for my health care or for someone's Medicaid are entirely different. At least they're supposed to be.
