T and All, from now on, only read the first sentence of my betting advice. <g> Way to go, Monarchos. But I didn't have Point Given's unsung brother on any of my exotic tickets, so I piffed away about a third of my straight bet winnings. Oh, well, I'm still proud of Jorge Chavez for the way he cut that place horse off to win. <g>

Good call on Monarchos. I gave him a decent shot, but he wasn't my favorite. Fortunately I didn't bet. The only price I thought was way out of line was Dollar Bill. He was very overbet, but I couldn't seem to put together a strong enough opinion at the odds on anyone else to get involved. Good race.

Nice call on MONARCHOS, Mike.

I went with my original no insight, no bet scenario. Instead of going to the simulcast, I took in the Princeton - Brown boat race. Brown beat the previously undefeated Princeton eight, setting them up as the favorite for the Eastern Sprints next weekend in Worcester, MA.

When I got home, I went out for a 26 mile ride on my bicycle. The plan is for about 17 miles on the trainer this morning; back to the iron tomorrow. My right shoulder is still not completely OK; I'm still 12-30 lbs. off my best for most lifts and I'm staying away from dips, even body-weight only dips.

As for JAMAICAN RUM and BALTO STAR, well 6th and 14th ain't bad, is it??? <g>

Turned out my wife was already betting on Monarchos and now she claims I was copying her when I did, too. The payoff at the party was pretty good: $28 on a $2 bet. Of course, I had brought a bottle of Kentucky Gentleman for the hosts ($7), bet on three other horses ($6), tipped the cute bartender lady a measly dollar out of my winnings, so my net take was $12--plus all the mint juleps, beer and food. But without your tip I would have been $16 in the hole and dismal as a Dellhead.
