Wilcousa,
In many ways the US dollar serves as the gold standard for the world. We will have this edge--the ability to run trade deficits and benefit by it--- for awhile longer. The Euro may change that within the next 5 to 10 years. That would be another long term negative for the US markets, I believe(not sure). Along with the peaking for demographics(baby boomer investing) the markets could be in for a rocky road at that time. Of course for the US, there is always something that changes this to our favor.
