Hi Chris
I would have to go with the Protestant bible since the Catholic church only added the apocryphal books post Trent, and they were not accepted by the Jewish community as canonical. As far as translations go although you are correct that they are just that. There is far less dispute about those translations than you are implying. The reformers believed correctly in the perspicuity of the Bible. That is to say the main things are the plain things and the plain things are the main things. Do you have a particular instance that gives you difficulty, or are you just using that as an excuse?

You left wing commies are all the same :0)
Hope that makes you feel better than being linked to the Christian nation, whatever that is.
Have a good day.
Greg

I took a different book with me to jury duty today. It's
Conspiranoia! : The Mother of All Conspiracy Theories
by Devon Jackson. I managed to get through the second chapter and found it quite engaging. I borrowed it from a friend who bought it after I chatted with him about all the strange ideas I'd encountered here at SI, particularly on the Y2K thread. It's very thorough and an easy read.

I don't think the book was the reason, but I managed to get stricken from the panel today. I was the third one called for a boring personal injury suit. I think the plaintiff's lawyer picked up on my attitude when he asked me how many juries I'd been on. Or it could have been my age. So far, so good.
