Not to be provocative (I would NEVER), but what instances do you think of? I think of attempts to make it LOOK that way. But I don't really get PC. Where I live it is not only PC to condemn Democrats as the spawn of satan (seriously), but political suicide in most counties to do otherwise. Most of what I hear here, and used to hear in the Big City, about PC, were very Northeast or West Coast large city notions. I had a feeling there was "baiting" going on, which is a bore. I'll always ignore that. But the UN thing is interesting. That anyone sees not winning an election as "being kicked off" is odd. Different thing. And why, pray tell, shouldn't those little countries who are not near as important as us have a voice? Laughable.

But it is true that there is a wide range of opinions. I am far away from many intense leftist groups, and a lot of my old partners in crime, on the subject of globalization. But I don't think of it in terms of Business First.. but as a way of creating a more intuned world. Many of my old buddies sound positively 50's isolationist conservative to me on the subject. Not that I don't get the problem of exploitation. It's a question of reasons for globalization and method. I don't want a big fence around me, thanks.

<edit> Sometimes I take bait to amuse myself and because I decide, "what the hell".

ban the consumption of Xmas pudding except on Xmas Day.

LOL. I seriously doubt that Xmas pudding is in as much demand as sex so the inhabitants of your island are at less risk of the docks.

Living in a state where all sexual contact other than missionary position intercourse between married partners is a felony is a disconcerting situation. I don't know that the law has ever kept anyone from committing those particular felonies, but choosing to ignore the law on one case does have something of a slippery slope for the citizenry.

The law is rarely enforced, but like X and her chicken, it only has to be enforced once in a while to give one pause. The only reason I have the awareness of and interest in these laws that I do is that I served on a jury that convicted someone of sodomy. That was a good fifteen years ago or more and I am still pained by it. Otherwise, I might be quite oblivious.

That should mean about 90% of
the post-pubertal population behind bars... 80% for sex, 10% for under-age,
and the remaining 10% liars.

I'm staying away from any company whose books you audit.
