in any case, thanks for giving me something to ponder. life is not about dollars and cents but about developing rewarding relationships with other people and adding value to their lives. sometimes this point gets lost in the fray.

SB,

I read snow's post a few days ago and made no comment. I pondered his thinking and felt he had points and some were missing other issues. That is true with the thinking of all of us. I like your paragraph above because it is how I feel about life. You are leaving the luck issue out as to defining one's way of approaching life. I just like that.

Snow really had some valid point. I do agree that many CEOs are way overcompensated and am wondering if they really have skills and add that much to a firm to warrant it. It is rather a moot point because those that have control over the money in the firm make the decision to give it to the CEO for whatever reason. This indirectly includes the shareholders since they could sell at any time.

I wonder at times when I compare my perceived abilities (perceived by me) to those that are hired for what I consider large sums within my industry, what they know I do not. Bu then I realize I have the choice to close my own business and go apply to be a CEO for another larger public retailer. I choose not to do that because I lenjoy what I do and I do not not know if I would ever be considered or at best, be "chosen" for one of those positions.
