very interesting way to put it... depth of confirmation...
I think we are going here into the field on intuition. Experience transformed to intuition is what impacts the depth of confirmation needed to put on the trade.

I for one always have hard time answering questions like: "Do you buy breakout right at the high, or uptick higher, or just before the actual break?" If I try to answer them categorizing the cases, I feel like I rationalize on the fly... truth is, I don't know. I feel when it's right to buy in advance and when I would better wait for confirmation or even for pullback, retest of new support (old resistance) in order to buy only if it's holding... and this is happening on the same setup.
