Hi Mike -

Well said. I don't know whether Easy Al can print us out of this, but we're going to go down fighting.-g-

At least we know where his heart is - on the side of free trade and democracy. Back in 1929-1930, the Fed was doing its darndest to limit credit and cut back on the money supply. Hoover's Secretary of the Treasury, Mellon, was chanting "Liquidate! Liquidate!" "Liquidate labor, liquidate stocks, liquidate farmers! Purge the rottenness out of the system!"

They believed, as some still do, "the bigger the boom, the bigger the bust." So they were trying to get the bust over fast with so they could go back to normal. Whoops. Be careful what you ask for.-ng-

Is the boom-bust cycle inevitable? Is the entire world economy going to collapse because people paid too much for MicroStrategy and Yahoo, and bankers bought derivatives so complex that even their own rocket scientists can't understand them? Stay tuned, we're about to find out.
