Norma and mr mark, excuse for butting in, but I saw Norma's plan...

My plan:
1) put a splitter on the cable and set up both PCs
2) hook up my old monitor to my old PC
3) copy stuff I want to transfer on my old PC to zip disks
4) when all stuff is copied, get someone to help me move the zip drive in the old PC to the new PC, then save the data on the new PC
5) get rid of old PC

Because of step #5, why bother hooking both PCs to the web?
Norma, it sounds as if you want the old PC around just to transfer files. That's smart. By hooking only the new PC to the web you can save yourself some work.

BTW, I've seem external USB Zip drives for $67 at Costco. Great because you can carry a Zip drive like that to a friend's house and plug it into her PC.
