I was wondering what the thread members think the trend is in America today wrt the libertarian philosophy.

In my relatively short politically-conscious life, it seems as if the trend over the last 20 years or so is favoring libertarians. Tax rates are generally lower than 20 years ago, the welfare state is smaller, affirmative action is opposed by the majority of Americans, the war on drugs has lost its glamour, and politicians at least speak about smaller government and personal responsibility.

What do you all think?
