The Vatican was surrounded by Fascist Italy and Nazi Germans.. They had little choice but to get along, or face greater persecution of Catholics, as was already in evidence in Poland. 6 million Jews died in the Holocaust... But there were 11 million alleged total victims of this organized extermination. Many of those remaining 5 million were non-Jewish Poles, Christian and Catholic. I have to admit that I was surprised to learn these dates as well. But then again, I'm not completely convinced that the "11 million" figure is accurate either, given the complex logistical problem that would be involved in exterminating 11 million people over 3-4 years. The holocaust was not just a "jewish" tragedy. It affected all nations of Europe, and to emphasize the "jewishness" of this genocide, it might provide ammunition to the more brutish, anti-semitic elements of mankind, who might discount the immensity of the crime by saying "oh.. it only happened to some Jews". The bottom line is that it can happen to any group of people who suddenly become a convenient scape goat for a totalitarian regime. Hawk

Popes asking the Greeks for pardon deceived no one! In between 1941 to 1945 terrible crimes were committed by the Catholic Croatians against Serbs! They used to pack up the Orthodox Serbs in their churches, locked the doors and burnt down alive! The mobs were often led by the Catholic clergy! The Archibishop of Zagreb blessed the mass killings, and worked with Nazis! At the end of the War he was tried by Tito for war crimes and I think he was shot! This was in April of 1945. Anyhow, Pope not only kept quite, but received the leader of Ustascià Mihaikiç in ROme and blessed him!!!! I can go on and full pages of how the Vatican kept a blind eyes to mass murder! So it is not only Jews, Greek Orthodox have their story to say too! ggg Now it is easy to say forgive us! FOrgive nothing, forget nothing! Let them carry the guilt! THese crimes will be forgiven only if the Church officially publishes the true story and put the history right.

He abondoned all his Fascist followers and 200,000 of them were masacared by the Tito's Partisans in Kara-vanken Alps, on the border of Slovenia and Austria. Drazha Mihaliloviç the head of çetniks was a Greek Orthodox and not catholic! I was hunted down and was killed in the montians of Monte-negro in 1947!
