I lived in Colorado for 27 years where we had a large number of post-war Vietnamese refugee immigrants. Here in NC we also have many Hmong (Lao mountain people) immigrants. These are not the engineers you get in Silicon Valley after they've graduated and taken jobs, but are destitute people with no education, no English skills, etc. I've attended graduation ceremonies for both high schools and colleges both here and in Colorado and Asian kids are consistently at the top of their classes. It's their parents and values instilled that make the difference.
