Glenn, we've sure had this discussion many times before about sales tax. I remember us talking about it back in 98.
Well, I'm still confused. Let me give you an example. A couple of months ago Cheryl ordered a new PC from Gateway.com.
Gateway also has a physical store not far away from us. I'm looking at the invoice as we speak and no sales tax was included.
But, it does say at the bottom of the invoice Gateway.com collects applicable sales/use tax on merchandise.
Getting back to Amazon.com. In all fairness, if any investor had bought the stock at the beginning of this year they would only be down 5% ytd.
Which is a hell of a lot better than other Internets and wireless stocks have done.
Do you think its because the Gartner group estimates e-commerce will grow to $142 billion by 2004?
