"And in closing..." Gosh, I'm starting to sound like Clinton. But it looks to me as though gasoline is topping or will top between here and $1.90 by somewhere around Memorial Day, natural gas will go back up when cooler weather is forecast (not soon, thankfully), and alternative energy will be in the news A LOT this summer (the media might catch on by then). Electric rates, though, unfortunately, there is no top in sight.
Mr. Greenjeans will do his thing again this week, but Mr. Market will only sigh.
Good Page 1 story Friday in The Journal on telco equipment. Only one problem: It would have been a lot better about six months ago. If you didn't see it, yes, Journal says it's S&L fiasco all over again, key difference being telco equip sells for 10 cents on the dollar at auction, versus Texas real estate, which brought about 40 to 50 cents in the late '80s.
The problems here are very real, and they won't just go away because we want them to. But it WILL get better. Eventually. In most places. California? Well, I said most places. I would not want to be governor of California.
