I agree, but what the heck is happening to SPCT today. Up all day, and up a buck now. Makes me a bit scared about selling it right now. (already traded half my SPCT for CREE).

Stanley Elec To Set Up White LED Production Unit In China
Wednesday, May 16, 2001
TOKYO (Nikkei)--Stanley Electric Co. (6923) plans to establish a subsidiary in Jiangsu, China, in June to manufacture and sell white LED (light-emitting diode) backlights for use in color LCDs.

Demand for white LED backlights has increased as cellular phone and digital camera displays shift from monochrome to color. Stanley is locating the plant in China to supply the growing ranks of Japanese LCD makers moving manufacturing operations there.

The wholly owned subsidiary will be capitalized at 100 million yen and have 180 employees. The plant, which will be set up at a cost of 1 billion yen, is slated to churn out 5.15 million units this year, and ramp up to an annual output of 42 million units in 2003.

Sales are projected at 2 billion yen in the first year of operations and are expected to grow to 13.5 billion yen in fiscal 2003.
