SBH:
Perhaps american coax-cable network is not as widespread as in Canada. From where we are, cablemodem seems to be able to compete with DSL.

The real question is: Are the cable operators in Canada weasels like they are in US. For example, Comcast considers sharing in your own home to a second computer via a router of the 1 computer cable modem signal a condition called theft of service. They want additional fees for every computer sharing the cable connection.
For business users, their plans start well above the prices for DSL service plus additional very high installation charges for their proprietary router solutions. I choose to deal with the cash strapped DSL providers who plan to "make up losses on each subscriber by signing up more subscribers" vs cable companies who are priced to make money right now but are not at the right price vs DSL or T-1 from many telcos.
