Then again, Tom's article suggests even more strongly than Anand's review that mobile, server and desktop A4s will have the same guts, with only the validation emphasis being different:

mobile = correct under low power
server = works in dual mode
desktop = works at high frequencies

And somebody pointed out that the point-to-point bus may obviate the usefulness of a > 256Kb L2 (as compared to Xeons.)

The other differences may be in certain signals on package pins (to enable/disable powerNow, etc.) [Edit: Oh, and probably the supported (at least officially) FSB speed.]

This would have its advantages... AMD cranks out tons of cores with less waste, and better ability to match changing demand across these 3 market segments.

The small differences in packaging & validation being enough to support different prices...

Not bad, if it works. Thoughts?
