Given that the Itanium can run existing x86 code, I don't see how having "executed" 400 applications on Itanium means anything whatsoever. In fact, it's kind of pathetic if Intel and friends have not gotten around to testing at least a few thousand of the tens of thousands of existing windows apps for compatibility.

Dear Paul:

No mention, if those were IA-64 apps. They could be emulated x86 apps. Besides, how fast did they execute? 0.2x to 0.01x a 1GHz P3?
