The fact that Coppermine even got to 1 GHz is an amazing feat in itself, given that it was based on a five-year-old core at the time of its release. As for copper, Intel has argued that with 0.18u, copper doesn't buy all that much.

Have you considered that Intel was wrong in arguing what they did? "Not much" could have prevented the Piii 1.13 GHz recall, and maybe limit marketshare loss to say 2%, rather than 4% in Q1, if Coppermine made it to 1.13 or even 1.2 GHz. How much is that worth?

As I said, I don't know what the right answer is but this thread assumes that since Intel said it, it must be right.
