The Unicom deal is an obvious positive for QUALCOMM as CDMA breaks into the huge China market.

They should write it this way. "Chinese" market instead of "China" market. It is assured that Taiwan will deploy its CDMA networks after this announcement. In fact I believe the whole Asia (besides Korea, Japan, Australia and China itself) will install CDMA networks in the future based on China Unicom's decision today. China Unicom contracts are extra incentives for other Asian countries to follow suits. That includes India.

The landscape is changed. You will not hear Koreans complaining about high royalty again. Economy of scale will make them happy as ever.
