Re. A straddle is when you buy an equal number of puts and call options at the same strike price and maturity date.

You could be selling the calls and puts too.

catman and ibexx; thanks for discussion of straddles and strangles, these explanations helped.

BTW: do you or others on the thread have any thoughts regarding utilization of these strategies in the current market conditions, either index or individual stock plays?

Does anyone play longer term straddles/strangles with Leaps?
