Wayne and Bob...

Can see you've done a some homework for the Pimlico. Agree that Congaree certainly deserves a spot in exotics. He had the lead a furlong out and the 16ths shorter might just suit him.

At post time Monarchos, Congaree and Pont Given unlikely to be much better than 5-2 or so with the others in double digits. But with so many once-a-year fans, might squeeze out a fraction higher at post-time.

Means must stick my nose deeper in the Form and see if I can smell out a longshot. I'm not ready to discount Wilson, Johnson or Dominquez yet--but really haven't looked much at the PPS for the race. Haven't look at the early speed, either, yet.

Best of luck, guys.

Wayne, Uh, oh, we are in trouble. We both liked Monarchos in the Derby, but now we both like Congaree in the Preakness. What are the odds that two loosers (as my less literate critics often call me) like us will hit two legs of the triple whammy? <g>

I like Congaree and Point Given over Monarchos in the exacta. I will worry about Invisible Ink and AP Indy, but not bet on them.

Your comment about favorite local jockeys rang a bell. My Mom bets almost entirely on the jock, assuming that the best jockey gets the best offers to ride, which has a strong correlation with truth. Unfortunately, in the Triple Crown and the Breeder's Cup, most flunky butt jockeys are absent. And the locals don't usually stack up well against the nationals. I also have to preach to her that just because she loves Russell Baze at Bay Meadows and Golden Gate is no reason to bet on Tyler Baze at Hollywood. I usually give that sermon right before Tyler brings in a 15 to one shot. <g>
