sounds real good compared to the alternative. Just don't forget to look into maintenance costs -- someone selling a system may paint a rosy picture -- ask for the name of someone running one of the diesels in a similar type environment -- I think you are smart to do both the diesel and photovoltaics.

I do not know where your new abode is located, but if it gets cold there, the heat thrown off by your diesel can sure be useful and cheap, if a decent heat exchanger can be integrated into your system.
