Justice. Define it and I'll tell you if I've ever seen it! -s-

Injustice; Now I know what that is....one of the plagues of history. Funny, but that one could be stopped without any scientific achievements at all, yet the plague is not stayed.

Reason is good. "Come, let us reason together sayeth the Lord...."

As for the 80 hour work week of yesteryear...I am assuming that was a farmer? Certainly the child laborers of Sinclair Lewis fame had it rough. A farmer in Iowa, maybe not so even though they worked the same amount of hours. yes, we have free time to pleasure ourselves with in the United States. Is that good? Is that an advancement of humanity? My friend has a business that was "forcibly" relocated to China. His workers work 12 hours 6 days a week. One holiday per year. They make $40 month of which $10 is deducted for food and shelter(rice, tea, and stacking board shelves to sleep on in the alley way next door). All this so we can enjoy the fruits of progress in the "civilized" world.

What is justice?

1 ¶ Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
James 5, v. 1-6

Pretty accurate description of the world we live in.

Great thread, by the way. I do enjoy an open minded discussion.
