You should therefore have a Living Will and
explicit instructions in the case of catastrophe.

It's a blessing to your survivors in a way,
since they will know your desires.

OMD's point comparing this situation to
the death penalty is a good one. The underlying
premise there is that it is better to err by
allowing a guilty person to escape death than
to execute an innocent person.

By parity of reasoning, protection of the
people who do not choose death but whose
personal liberty could be permanently
extinquished by allowing unbridled euthanasia
should be of greater concern than thwarting
the desires of others for suicide.
