You guys make me laugh. In one breath its Americans are selfish and greedy and the worst users of energy and we need to conserve and not use energy. Well maybe you should really think about what that means. It means that the poor in this country shouldn't be able to afford air-conditioning when the middle class and rich of most of the world don't have it. Al Gore wanted gas at 4$ a gallon.

Never forget history and politics-which don't always mix just right:

All the mistakes made on Vietnam were by Kennedy and Johnson, who were advised by the same idiot, Robert McNamara. But the left and their lapdog press made it "Nixon's war". Breaks of the game, and Nixon knew as well as anyone...

Now comes California, and ANYONE seen as an enviro-whacko or an appeaser of the radical environmental left will see their political career fry like a cheap hot dog by the end of this summer. Davis has a chance, still, and a slim one. But as long as all you hear from him is "price gauging", and as long as he continues to use the word "environment" (the new 4-letter word in CA politics for 2002) his career is cooked, pure and simple. And, when the smoke starts to rise from it, everyone else who is at least partly to blame will transfer their blame to him.

That's politics, and if you do it for a living, you should realize it.
