What state do you live in? That seems high to me. We average about $40 for gas, and $40 for electric every month year round.

My bills here are not high. The total bill was 110 last month and the highest amount we paid last winter was 235. My neighbors were paying around 350. They kept their heat up to 65-68 and we seldom turned ours on...only in the morning when we took showers. We always had a fire in the fireplace at night and wore sweaters if we were cold. The upstairs was a bit cold but actually we enjoyed the briskness after we got used to it. We were much healthier and didn't get the colds, sore throats and flu that we usually were sick with during the winter months.
