What realism demands By Afzaal Mahmood

Chronology of deterioration for Punkistan-China Chummy relationship.---JPR

Excerpt:
China's relations with New Delhi and Moscow had begun to deteriorate and Islamabad was looking for a new protector in place of the US.

For instance, after the collapse of Indo-Pakistan talks on Kashmir in 1963, Premier Zhou Enlai declared that China "would defend Pakistan throughout the world".

how China could help Pakistan to have an affordable and credible defence, the Chinese prime minister clarified his government's position by saying that the defence of Pakistan was "an internal affair" of the country. more sophisticated and cautious stance adopted by the present Chinese leadership. The spokesperson for Mr Zhu's delegation, briefing newsmen on Sino-Indian relations, said: "India is a close neighbour and we want to further develop our ties with it".

During his visit Mr Li assured Indian parliamentarians that "China and India do not pose any threat to each other as they share similar views on a multipolar world in which both can play their roles for world peace and development".
There must be a clear realization that no one is going to fight anybody else's war with India.
