Bush will try to use this "crisis" to scare the country into allowing his buddies in the energy business to rape and pillage our national parks and coastlines.

Bush stated that Congress should quickly pass his tax cut so citizens can use the extra money to help pay their increased gasoline and energy bills!

We've had storms during the El Nino years that have caused more severe power outages than this "crisis".

You know, I have actually suspected that some of this is true. But I don't think this is really the point. The point seems to be energy prices, not availability. So why are prices so high? They are high because suppliers are able to charge a price and people are willing to pay. When people decide they are no longer willing to pay, the price will plummet. "Price caps" will cause even less availability.
