Actually there is competition showing up, especially in the form of the Cell Phone PDA's. Such as this one by Sprint...

Also Motorola has a similar pager/email device. I have used the Blackberry before and it was very good. But now I am leaning to the Sprint cell phone solution. One Cell phone bill of 50/Month covers cell and email plus a whole lot more. While the 40/month I was paying on the blackberry was ontop of my 40/month ATT cell bill.

there is no other device on the market that allows one to bypass a corporate firewall to receive email

I assume you mean SECURELY bypass a firewall. WinCE devices can also do it using IBM's wireless tunneling software.

As for bypassing a firewall without encryption, it's simply a matter of opening up ports for a Palm VII or WAP phone to work.

"there is no other device on the market that allows one to bypass a corporate firewall to receive email"

That's one of the main purposes of running a VPN...allowing your remote users to securely access the corporate network to get e-mail.

That being said, however, IMO the Blackberry is the only convenient, and yet secure, wireless corporate e-mail device available.

Likewise no comment on the stock.

swisstrader, wireless CDPD gives you your very own static IP

hardware secure, very cheap ($30 a month unlimited) and is actually a wireless WAN at 19k

never 'falls off,' is instantly on, and has enough bandwidth to show streaming quotes as well as my DSL line

I have it in my vehicle with a 15" touch screen

why?

I dont know
