Earlie, one and a half years ago I too thought that deflation was inevitable, primarily because of the impact of the internet on services. But after watching the Fed in action, especially in the last few months, I think the Fed will not permit deflation, even at the cost of considerable inflation -- that's why I hedged with some gold in the last few months for the first time in my life. I strongly doubt that unemployment in the USA will exceed 8% at the height of this recession. Kyros
