Good points. I'm glad you recognize that all this analysis we are doing is mere speculation in the end due to the risks involved. I too share your thoughts that the next 5 years have a good chance to return investors well and beyond that things get dicey. But that's ok. 5 years horizon is long enough for me for now. :)

it will be interesting to see if CSCO attempts any acquisitions before June 30. that is when FASB closes pooling acctg, and note there is a six-month lag before cos. will be able to forego amortization of goodwill on purchase accounting.

Please allow me to put your post into my words. With luck, I'll get your thoughts right.

Today's Cisco differs from the Cisco of a few years ago. The business and/or environment has changed. Financial creativity, easily disguised during euphoric markets, no longer contribute to Cisco profitability. Cisco profits now/will come from producing network equipment. This business doesn't look promising enough to support the current stock price.
