Off topic, GM plans truck engines that idle cylinders:

GM plans in improving fuel economy in their truck engines by having only half of the cylinders functioning part of the time. I thought this was interesting because the method looks very similar to the way mobile processors throttle back their clock speeds during times of inactivity in order to conserve power. ;-)
