Doug, I saw that linpack thing too, and noted it in Message 15829794 . I'd assume that it's some weird prefetch thing, as you say. The funny thing is, I don't think that pattern showed up in the early P4 graphs. See, for example, anandtech.com . I wonder if something changed, or it's timing dependent on the 1.5/1.7 ghz difference, or if there's been some new stepping that fixed one thing and messed up something else. Rather odd.

Hey Doug, maybe Intel can borrow AMD's old train commercial and feature the blue men tied down on the track. <g> Even better maybe AMD should do that with the caption, "AMD--Running Over The Competition." Oh well, just a thought.
