I am a student of human nature. I was nearly arrested about two years ago because I was driving with an expired registration. (Long story but it was an oversight.) I must have picked a bad day for this cop. He was all over me from the time he pulled me over. Although I was initially courteous, he was surly, sarcastic and when he noticed my tiral bag, he became downright nasty. He out his hand on his gun after he had ordered me from the car and screamed (profanely)at me in public for about five minutes solid. Now I yessed him to death and generally did everything in my power to avoid a confrontation because I really didn't feel like going to the station in handcuffs and I knew that's where we were headed. I didn't feel he was in the right but I knew the consequences in that setting. Eventually his parnter stepped in and the situation fizzled. The next day I filed a complaint in a forum where I knew there would be a more equitable balance of power. And I cut the guy some slack and withdrew my complaint after I filed it and had given him some time to think over and apologize for his actions. All it takes for the most part in these types of situations is to remain calm and use some common sense.
