Who do you think will hit 800/1000 besides Alpha and when? I've seen the Merced scores so I can't comment on that except to say that Intel has promised McKinley will provide a dramatic increase. We've seen McKinley based servers running in public demonstrations. Where are the EV68s? Intel holds the SPEC crown in INT and FP with the P4 while rumors have it that Merced will boost the FP score. No public discussion of Merced INT scores so no comment here. 2GHz P4s are expected next quarter while higher speed Prestonia followons are said to appear Q4 or Q1 2002. They are not expected to be simply a .13u shrink of P4 so there may be added performance above and beyond the frequency boost. It is my opinion that Intel may never again relinquish the performance crown. Just an opinion, I've been wrong before. EP
