<I've seen the Merced scores so I can't comment on that except to say that Intel has promised McKinley will provide a dramatic increase. >

"Where are the EV68s?"

Close. Good question , though.

"Intel holds the SPEC crown in INT and FP with the P4 while rumors have it that Merced will boost [beat it at] the FP score."

Would be rather embarassing if it didn't as there would be
little or no incentive to even look at it. That said, I'd
be shocked if they were 10% higher than that 1.7 GHz Dell.

"No public discussion of Merced INT scores so no comment here."

Folks in the know seem to think we won't see Itanium
SpecInt scores.

"2GHz P4s are expected next quarter"

To shoot past Itanium on SpecFp and put Itanium in 3rd
place.

"It is my opinion that Intel may never again relinquish the performance crown. Just an opinion, I've been wrong before."

Intel will relinquish the performance crown and it may be
a year before they get it back again.

Bookmark this one as I am laying it on the line and will
have to eat major crow if wrong.
