I like to mostly do my own thing, knew all about the inner sanctum at IRC realtime room. Kim might have been straight when she or he first hit SI like Jane says, but the lure of easy money can change some people. Touting a stock you own is one thing, but frontrunning like TJ and these people did on SI is wrong bigtime Mike. Now most of ones left on SI and RB are major doom and gloomers. I think Kim disappeared from SI because of when the chit hit the fan for TJ, pretty convenient huh.

>>>"Rumor" had it they would all buy into a stock or two and then show up with the hot "tip" here on SI (in the same manner Tokyo Joe was accused of doing).<<<

Yeau, Mike. And one of them showed up here today to grace us with his pathetic presence. There are a few others that drop in on occasion that were part of that "rumored" scheme too. In the end, they'll get theirs. Hope all is well my friend.

Mike: I got burned bad before I joined SI, following Kim recommendations on ALAN and UTCC, which were swing trades. After Kim left SI, I got invited to the IRC chat by some of those who supported her. What I found was a good group of traders, and their use of chat occurred out of concern (or paranoia) that postings on message boards were being targetted by MMs and shortists. As I got to know them, I realized these traders were different ages and backgrounds, which accounted for the differing responses each gives when this dead horse gets kicked again. Only 2 or 3 were close to Kim. I doubt there were MMs involved but clearly, she had friends on Wall Street.

My take was that she may have frontloaded, but few, if any, of the 'group' were privy to that. Also, it's clear that the IRC group changed faces regularly, so those I traded with were not like some great mass conspiracy. Some of them remain good friends whose trading views I trust, such as Fred & 2MAR$ and a couple of femmes north of the border. Some have disappeared or perhaps changed names, such as Mr. Big and Mogul.

One of the best traders I met there was Westpacific.... he called great intraday shots. Yet anytime he appears, he gets trashed because of that old affiliation. Though his market timing calls are off, his individual stock trading skills would be a benefit to most of us.

As far as I'm concerned, every analyst of that time was pumping, under the notion that "what goes up, must go higher". Kim was taking advantage of the heady atmosphere, but it was the choice of each trader and the greed of each trader, that caused us to risk losses after 10 seconds of DD.

I would hope that wisdom remains and that most of the hatchets are buried by now. I'd like to see many of them back in SI. As for Kim, I can't really say much, as I never knew her personally. She's no better nor worse than 90% of the analysts still standing though.

I know there's been others outside of that group far more in-your-face abrasive and rude, who prove to be a great distraction.... and who I'm glad have left or toned down. (I don't mean Stan, either).

Come to think of it, there's a few that weren't part of that group that I'd like to see again too.... Swisstrader, Jack, Dale, Sojourner, Linda, and come to think of it, Jane & Mariah are too rare, too. The combined DD capabilities and personalities benefit all imho.

Which is why I have mixed feelings about Kim. After all, she attracted quite a bunch of talent.... and that group has largely stayed intact after her thread died. I guess I'm one o' those half-glass-is-about-to-be-fuller people cuz I think we should also consider the good seeds she sowed. It's true she also attracted Ian and me, but nobody's perfect.
