This is the only source I've ever seen to suggest the need to replace base stations for 1x.

To me, it sounds like Wit's personal speculation..

1xRTT more expensive for US operators to implement than GPRS will be for Euro operators? That seems to contradictory of much of the discussion and posts on these threads for the past year.

Well....as Ben stated, this seems to be wholesale speculation. I hope that the rest of his analysis turns out be more accurate.

On a related note....Anadigics announced that they had a customer for their new 1x power amps. Ramping up during the second half of '01.

During a presentation at a tech conference they stated that the part would end up in handsets that were being sold to Verizon. They hinted pretty heavily that the customer was Kyocera. They described the customer as the most stringent in the CDMA industry....once you designed for them it usually led to additional business. Sounds like it would be Q's former handset division....
