Gus, what do you make out of US policy in the Middle East? Does US has policy in the Middle East? Or it is Oil, Islam, and Israel? US support Israel as the only democracy in the Middle East. It supports Saudis as a monarchy, and it supports Sadam Hussein's political survival because Iraq's territorial integraty is necessary! Collin Powel is working on lifting sanctions agaisnt Saddam! US is training anti-Saddam's oppostion in Iran, (this I happen to know first hand!) and US money and arms flow to Kurds in the North or Iraq! Clinton failed to bring Israeli and Palestinians together. He was the most pro-Israeli and most pro-Palestinan US Presdient ever! Maybe that was the trouble? Areil Sharon used US F-16's war-planes to sedn a signal to Palestinian US trained Police Force. This meant to send a message to Arafat, US is with us! Bush maybe quietly approved, the offically he protested! I really doubt if in the State Department they know what they are doing! Or maybe they do!ggg
