CA legislature's blundering over the last 10+ years.

More like 40 years when you consider the subsidized solar and geothermal and other "boutique" QF plants that have contributed to California leading the nation in energy costs. Now the bond debt will have us paying 3X the average. But the "blundering" term is correct and Californians have only themselves to blame for the quality of representation.

Dear zen, he uses may to set up this. But Cheney's call to construction
exaggerates, if not misconstrues, the nation's future energy problems.

But the facts you show say "During the period from 1990 through 1999, overall demand increased by 11.3 percent. Electric generating capacity
decreased by 1.7 percent during the same period."

Now I say the dufus did no arithmetic and babbled his technology retardation for all who can think to see clearly.

I don't say that David Whitman may be a technology retard. I says David Whitman has demonstrated that he is an obvious technology retard.

And by the way, all(most) of the new plants coming online are natural gas and guess what. The current pipeline infrastructure is already at or behind the required capacity. SO just because you build a plant it does not mean you can use it to generate any electricity. I point out this along with the fact that David Whitman does not address the problem in transmission line capacity to show what a simple minded fool David Whitman is.

A technology retard can only discuss complex issues in one dimension at a time and even then will never use simple arithmetic because when they do it never seems to add up and that confuses them. 90% maybe 99% of the readers of the crap don't have the systems analysis training to see the obvious stupidity of the writer suggestions. But anyone who looks into the issues and does a little arithmetic sees the holes.

If you want to try and understand why engineers are different enabled in the way the think. Well understand that engineers actually do see the interrelationships and write differential non linear equations to define all the relationships.

And then flip a coin and use simple arithmetic and their sliderule to decide what to do. I've found the most productive use of my sliderule is wacking a vacant liberal mind on the side of the head.

It's the old story of giving them a real reason to cry.

Now finally zen, there is the concept of a rainy day. What does that mean.
Well to engineers it means you predict what may happen in the worse case and then plan for 200% of the worse case or as much as you can afford.

Vacant liberal minds just smoke and don't inhale and don't plan at all.
