Regarding the article:

The announcement I heard at the conference was that the power outage was due to construction related digging that hit a power line, not rolling blackouts.

The article claims that the emulator runs faster than a real device. A developer I spoke with at the conference said the reverse. I don't see either as much of an issue. It's something that can be managed.

There were three tiers of support mentioned, not two: Standard(free), Enhanced and Premium. The Enhanced and Premium gives you higher priority access to Qualcomm and the carriers for both technical and business issues. The descriptions at the conference explicitly left out details because they haven't decided them yet.

Other than that, the facts seem to have been reported accurately. Listening to the technical speakers talk about the SDK, it felt like Qualcomm essentially just opened their existing API to developers. There didn't seem to be lots of polish.

Nokia has 400,000 registered Nokia developers in Nokia Forum
I'm one of them. I have to look at Club Nokia some more, when I have a bit of time to read.

Thanks for the comments and links. They are very helpful.

I've asked Slacker711 who attended the recent developers conference to comment on its objectivity - given the source.

Ummm....I am more than willng to comment (on pretty much anything under the sun), but unfortunately I didnt attend the conference. I did post some comments from a poster on the Yahoo thread who had been there...probably the source of the confusion.
