Can it last? I doubt it.

All societies come and go sooner or later with or without God.

Haven't you read Lord of the Flies? In a Godless universe Might is right.

Might is right has nothing to do with God. That can apply in religious societies as well. There are just too many variables for you to draw a straight line between godless and tyranny. I realize it would be comforting to you if it were so.

I'll take my chances anytime on a desert island with the local godless gang. We're all nice people and we'd work out a way to get along. We're all strong personalities and we'd probably get on each other's nerves sometimes, but no one would put anyone else on the dinner menu. I'm confident.

ROFL
I think you missed the cliff notes on Lord of the Flies.
Perhaps you should pick them up.

One of the main themes of the book is that people often single out a person or a group of people to terrorize or vilify in order to make themselves feel better. Remind you of any religious folk? I will be happy to discuss Lord of the Flies with you- I know it like the back of my hand (and just so you understand, I know the back of my hand very well).
