What, exactly, would you have had Bush do? Pass greater pork-barrel payoffs to unprofitable dairy farmers in Vermont? Give his support to a ruinous new entitlement for "special education"? Sign the fraudulent Kyoto Treaty?

Leading is leading, and the weaklings like Jeffords get smoked out when some one is doing real leading. There are more Republicans to smoke out in the Senate-though I think that's the party's job now, not Bush's.

Ask yourself a question: If Clinton/Gore, Daschlegephardt, 2 million manufactured Democratic votes nationwide, and the entire left-wing media working day and night couldn't stop Bush by now, how on Earth is a sewer rat like Jeffords going to do it?

Some say that Jeffords has designs on the Governor's Mansion, and that this is the groundwork for that.

Jeffords has a long standing voting record as a moderate Republican........pro-choice for one example. I really think that he felt the party had moved too far to the right.

The voters of Vermont will let him know how they feel!! They elected an independent to the House of Representatives so the state is not adverse to independents.
