Canada does not have a Yob culture, how worthy for your marvellous history, to end empire on that high note.

Hi, Thames. Since you're so interested in our political machinations, thought you might find these items interesting. The latter two offer some insight on the Senate upheaval. The first one I thought was just a hoot and right on.

<<Hague is going to lose big -- partly because he is such a dork. Nevertheless, it speaks well of British politics -- and the British electorate -- that an odd duck such as Hague should be leading the ticket of a major political party. It shows that the British still have a long way to go if they aspire to the shallowness and professionalization of American politics. It also shows a cultural tolerance for human diversity that is in some ways more valuable than the legally imposed racial consciousness that goes by the term "diversity" in this country.>>

Well, AJ was pretty rude, but you're mixing up Canada and the US. Your caricture isn't too far off for parts of the US. But Canada, where AJ lives, is a far different thing. For some reason, much less acceptance of violence, no culture of racism (maybe because black slavery and culture never got established there), basically a very peaceful people.

The violence of North America is mostly south of that border. I regret to say.

He could have been a lot more polite about it, but you have to be concerned about what's happening in England -- at least the parts that get reported in the press over here -- about soccer riots and IRA bombings and other indicia that life in England is not as it was in Queen Victoria's day!
